Hella 550 Install
Date: 8-1-03

Items needed:

17,13,12 and 10mm wrenches
Philips head screwdriver
Drill and drill bits
Electrical tape
Electrical pliers that can strip and cut wires
Crimp electrical connecters

Step one:
Determine where you want to install your lights. Its up to you, they are your lights. Oh and disconnect your batteries negative – cable before you start wiring up you connections.

Step two:
Drill holes to mount your lights or have a light tab welded on to you bumper if you have one.

Step three:
Mount the supplied relay in the engine compartment on the same side as your battery with the supplied sheet metal screw.

Step four:
Connect your wires to the relay as follows
Red: #30 on relay to positive + battery terminal+ Positive terminal. Blue: #85 on relay to ground. Yellow: #86 on relay to your switch or splice to your high beam wire.

Note:
I suggest using a switch if your lights are intended for off-road use. If you already have lights running off a switch you can splice the yellow wire into your existing lights power supply coming off of the relay usually # 87 on most relays.

Black: #87 on relay to lights, attach the black wires to the white wire coming off of the supplied bulb which you must install into the back of the lens housing.

Step five:
Connect a ground wire off of the back of the lens housing to a good ground you must make your own ground wire for your lights. Hella has chosen not to do so but they give you all the connecters you will need.

Note:
Any unpainted bolt or screw that goes into the chassis of the vehicle will work, I like to ground my lights to the mounting bolt for the lights, no sense in making anymore holes in your truck that you need to.

When you are done check to make sure all your connections are secure the reconnect you negative -Battery cable and fire those bad boys up!
